What is happening?
I didn't start as a respiratory therapist.
And that's exactly why I became the therapist I am today.
“I didn't start with a ventilator.
I started with a patient.”
Candace E. Noble, RRT — Founder, BoardReadyPrep

“I didn't just learn what to do. I learned it well enough to teach someone else.”
Then there was my mother.
Jean Hoffman Thomas — a respiratory therapist during the era of Inhalation Therapy, and one of the early respiratory therapy professionals in Cincinnati.
“My mother was my hero.”
Her influence eventually led Candace toward respiratory therapy.
“My mother opened the door.
My career taught me how to walk through it.”
Then everything came together.
Candace entered respiratory therapy after decades of healthcare experience, during COVID. She earned her registry and worked at Daniel Drake Center for Post-Acute Care in Cincinnati.
- Patient
- History
- Labs
- ABG
- Ventilator
- Airway
- Medications
- Response
“This was where the pieces connected.”
That's why I built BoardReadyPrep.
Real patients don't come with four answer choices.
- Symptoms
- History
- Findings
- Labs
- Imaging
- Medications
- Ventilator data
The therapist must connect the pieces, understand what is happening, and decide what to do next.
That's clinical reasoning.
Recognize → Reason → Respond
